Over 5000 schools reopen in rural Maharashtra for students of Class 8 to 12
Thursday marked the reopening of over 5,900 schools for students of Class 8 to 12 in rural Maharashtra, shut due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 4,16,599 students attended school on the first day. The state has 19,997 secondary and higher secondary schools. The state government had issued a notification about restarting physical classes in rural areas not reporting new COVID-19 cases, with safety protocols in place.
Highest number of schools at 940, reopened in Kolhapur, followed by Aurangabad (631), Yavatmal (502) and Jalna (447)
