Class 12 board exams for 2021 cancelled by CBSE and CISCE - State Boards follow

Amid the deadly second wave of COVID-19 in India, holding Class 12 Board exams for 2021 could have ended up exposing students to the virus. Class 10 Board exams were cancelled about a month ago, with no decision on the consequential Class 12 Boards. During these uncertain conditions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a review meeting regarding the Class 12 Board exams of CBSE and decided to cancel them. PM Modi stressed that the health and safety of students is of utmost importance and there would be no compromise on this aspect. CBSE is to take steps to compile the results of class 12 students 'as per a well-defined objective criteria' in a time-bound manner.

This was followed by the decision of the CISCE to cancel ISC Class 12 Board Exams for 2021. The alternative assessment criteria will be announced soon, said its secretary Gerry Arathoon.

Haryana Board has announced plans to cancel HBSE 12th Exams 2021, followed by Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh State Board Exams 2021. Decision on Maharashtra, Kerala, Rajasthan, Karnataka, etc. is awaited.
