CBSE decides to cancel Board Exams for 2021 for Class 10 and postpone Class 12 Exams
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Central government have announced a decision to cancel the CBSE Class 10 and postpone Class 12 Board Exams for 2021. The nationwide Covid-19 surge led to a rethink by the government that was considering to hold the exams. Around 21.5 lakh students were to take the Class 10 exams and some 14 lakh students for Class 12, according to the CBSE. Class 10 results would be prepared "on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board" and students not satisfied with their marks would be given the chance to take the exams whenever they can be held. The CBSE Class 12 exams, which were to be held from May 4 to June 14, have been postponed, said Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. A decision will be taken on fresh dates on June 1, and students will have at least 15 days' notice before the exams.
